Well i was thinking. For the premium members, you should give them 5 minutes so we can put up a song that we like and for the regular members give them 2 minutes to do what ever with it. But i am saying this because i want to upload songs and stuff.

That would require even more bandwidth and storage room on the server. The admins would or may need to charge more to people to get needed equipment. Yeah being able to put up music would be cool and stuff, but right now I think there is enough time. But that's my opinion, and they are like assholes everyone has them.

shrugs. so. I knwo I'm gonna hear it, but is it really necisary to put up a whole song. i think 2 minutes is perfect. the concept of the audio profile was to get people to know about you, and not so much as to show off your varied taste in music. We've gone around in cirlces before on the audio profile discussion, and it's pretty much set where it is. 20 seconds for members, and 2 minutes for premiums. It's quite perfect I think.

i agree with liam. personally, i get annoyed when i click on an audio profile, and it's a song. i clicked on it to hear what the person sounded like, not to hear a song.

Post 5 by BB (move over school!) on Saturday, 25-Mar-2006 10:08:54

I know I am tired, but I agree about just hearing the person and a little about them. If you put up a song that your not singing in then it should be taken down. I want to hear the member's voice.

I completely agree with Liam on this matter. The audio profile is so people can hear you, not a copyrighted song. If you can't be creative enough to say something as simple as a greeting in your own voice in some form, you needn't have an audio profile.

Really, I vote that audio profiles which are only songs done by artists who've copyrighted their material should be removed. I've no problem with using the song as a background, but please.

completely agree with wraith! not only is this a bad idea, with regard to being able to upload a whole song, but i also think that all audio profiles that don't feature the user in question anywhere, should be removed.

In total agreement here. Five minutes of a song that we can listen to on our own from another source is stupid. Don't waste your audio profile time playing music. Tell us something about yourself or showcase a talent, but don't just upload music.

I'd have to agree with everyone else so far. While I agree with you that it would be nice for non-premium members to have more time on their audio profiles, I also agree with everyone else that they should really be used for others to be able to listen to that member's voice.

I wouldn't mind making an audio profile. In fact, the only thing that puts me off doing that, is the time us standard members have! just 20 seconds! That gives you just enough time to say who you are, how old you are, where you live, when your birthday is and who your mates are, maybe. It stinks.

Post 12 by The Shuck Fitter (My name is Liam) on Sunday, 26-Mar-2006 10:49:04

exactly. and that's what an audio profile should be. though. creative ones are awesome. I agree with all of you that audio profiles which are just songs should be removed, but. saddly there's no legal grounds to do it. I'm sure there's some copyright things, but people on the staff list were not happy when I brought it up. but please, if you're goign to post a song, I certainly can't stop you, but don't waste everyone's time. I don't mind when people post the amusing stuff, but even then. I'm click on that link to hearyour voice, and not a song how ever funny it may be.

I agree with everyone else here. Uploading an audio profile which is just a song is pointless. An audio profile should have the voice of the user or something done by this user for example singing, playing an instrument, a composition etc. A song in the background and somebody talking over it is good too so somebody can do two things at once. Have their voice and play the song but just a song on its ownis not good. But if somebody really wants to put songs in the profile there is the following idea. Don't put a song on its own but different songs mixed together. In this way people can show what music they like and also crossfading and mixing skills This way would work.

lets not be like MySpace folks. If you google around a few generator websites will have html code to post songs and music videos on your profile. And for us dialupers it buffers and it's not worth it. I'd like to hear what you sound like, hear you talk about yourself and what you are like. I don't need to hear music that I can either download from a friend/legal website or just buy the CD. If you like the song/artist in general, state it in the profile not bombard us. If you want more time on your profile or more features then buy a premium account.

five minutes for an audio profile? now that is just insane! no one would ever fill that time slot, and yes it would take up way to much room, and who wants to here a copy righted song? its just gunna get us zoners into legal issues. If you want songs in your profile or audio profile, move over to myspace

I wouldn't pay just for a two minute profiel.... But anyway a profile with just a song is pointless as well. I think dan you're outnumberd here buddy.

For whatever the reason my computer seems to have a mind of its own and logs me off for the main when ever I attempt to listen to an audio profile… so few therefore have I listened to though I would like to add that there are ones here who could easily fit that 5 minute time slot, not that they would necessarily desire to but still could do so without there being a problem of being creative and coming up with their own material and that which is not under licencening by others. Two that come to mind are Man of Steele and Wraith. It is my understanding that both these gentlemen use there own work in the wording and musical selections…in that copyrighted material of others they are not using. Totally creative in their endeavors, with their voice being able to be heard. Now if I only knew what causes all my computer malfunctions. *sigh
